On her 18th birthday, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pittâs daughter Shiloh filed to officially drop âPittâ from her legal name. A few days later, on June 3, a rep for Pitt stated that he was âaware and upsetâ about Shilohâs decision.
âHeâs aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. Heâs never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,â a source told People. âThe reminders that heâs lost his children [are], of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. Itâs very sad.â
âHeâs still happy with Inés [de Ramón],â the source adds, referring to his girlfriend of two years, but the distance from his kids âpains him.â
A separate source tells the outlet, âHe still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.â
Pitt and Jolie share six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15. They were together for 12 years before separating in 2016; their divorce is ongoing, pending a legal dispute over their vineyard, Château Miraval.
While Shiloh appears to be the only child to take legal action to have âPittâ dropped from her name, both Vivienne and Zahara have dropped their dadâs last name in public settings. Vivienne was credited as âVivienne Jolieâ in the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical she assisted Angelina in producing, and Zahara referred to herself as âZahara Marley Jolieâ when pledging her sorority at Spelman College last fall.
Pitt rarely speaks about his six children, especially after Jolie filed for divorce following an altercation with Maddox, then 15, in 2016. Jolie also filed for sole physical custody of the children.
Since 2022, Brad Pitt has been linked to jewelry exec Inés de Ramón.
